Each summer for more than 25 years, girls and teen girls have hugged their parents goodbye and settled in for a week of camping, spiritual growth and fun adventures at Alabama WMU’s WorldSong Missions Place. Last year, however, Missions Adventure Camp partnered with the State Board of Missions’ Adventure Camp for Boys to expand the lineup and include co-ed weeks with boys and girls learning about missions side by side.
Royal Ambassadors (RAs) and Girls in Action (GAs) groups, and any group of children or individual child from any Alabama Baptist church, have expanded options now for summer camp adventures. In addition to the traditional summer lineup, WorldSong also has one Missions Adventure Camp week that is exclusively for boys, which includes teen boys, as well as “Lad and Dad” opportunities.
This is especially exciting to young adults like Matt Harris. He grew up in RAs, and as a college student, has used each of the past four summers to pour into RAs and young men on their way to being the godly servant leaders our state needs in the coming years. He believes these formative years are of utmost importance in the lives of young people.
Missions Adventure Camp features Bible study, personal devotionals, time with missionaries and lots of adventure recreation, including ropes courses and ziplines, canoeing, archery, outdoor cooking, arts and crafts, hiking, overnight tent-camping and so much more. As campers have fun, they learn life lessons that will bear fruit for decades to come.
- Pray for more young leaders like Matt to be passionate about investing themselves in the next generation.
- Pray for Alabama WMU’s WorldSong Missions Place and Missions Adventure Camp, as training and planning goes on year round.
- Pray for God to use boys and girls who have attended camp to be on mission for Him and make a difference in their schools and homes.
