Myers-Mallory History
The Myers-Mallory State Missions Offering is named after two spiritual giants who dedicated their lives to Christ. Both lived lives of service and prayer, embodying sacrificial giving for the sake of the Gospel. Both Martha Myers and Kathleen Mallory leave a legacy of lives well lived for one mission…the Great Commission.
What the offering supports
The Myers-Mallory State Missions Offering was launched in January 2016. Funds are received throughout the year, with a special emphasis coinciding with the Week of Prayer for State Missions held each September. The offering is meant to complement vital giving through the Cooperative Program and helps support these Great Commission Ministries:
Alabama WMU
- An auxiliary to the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions
- Encourages missional living by challenging, equipping and empowering Alabama Baptists to fulfill the Great Commission
- Recently celebrated 125 years of missions and ministry in the state
Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief
- Consists of highly trained, widely respected volunteers who offer help, healing and hope in Jesus’ name
- Volunteers are part of a greater network of Southern Baptist Disaster Relief and are always ready for deployment whenever needed in a local, state, national or international crisis
- Offering helps provide training and much needed heavy equipment
Church Planting
- Partnering with church planters, churches and associations seeking to start all kinds of churches to reach all kinds of people
- Offering helps provide events, training and coaching for planters, pastors and churches
- Goal is for every unchurched person in Alabama to have the opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel and be discipled through the starting of culturally appropriate congregations
Partnership Missions
- Connects churches with missionaries from (or connected to) Alabama through Acts 1:8 Connections
- Provides missions partnership connections and opportunities
- Facilitates mission trips, travel and security training throughout the year
Church Revitalization
- Help for churches that have experienced plateau or decline
- Assessment and evaluation tools for your congregation’s ministries
- Trained consultants and coaches to walk alongside you to help improve overall church health
